Finger millet 🌾 flour! I made 🍍 pineapple halwa & ragi mudde with curries for the breakfast

It was more than a week passed from the day that millet (Kurakkan) was taken home. Well dried millet should be pounded in the mortar in a very careful way. Millet should be cleaned by fanning and it should be sifted. Then it could be dried in the sun. Later on, the dried millet should be ground. Millet puree (Kurakkan Thalapa), Halapa, Pittu, Dodol, Rottie, Lawariya, (Some traditional food in Sri Lanka) Porridge are not new things to my place. Those are so delicious food that we love to try ever since the time of my Grand mother. There are so many funny incidents that our father used to narrate us from that past time and those remain the same.😂 My brother uses to provoke Father to narrate those stories repeatedly. Just he pretends that he loves to know those. As my father says, there had been super giant cows that were high to the ceiling. He exaggerates that even a pumpkin couldn’t be taken to hands. So that they were in bigger sizes. There are some more interesting stories that we can’t even share with others in public. 😂 I wanted to try out a recipe that’s not prepared often. The soaked millet flour should be sifted and remove the barn. Later, the rest (white flour) should be mixed with water, sugar and salt. The mixture should be thicken under low heat and add Ghee, Pineapple jam, Cardamom and Nuts. Stir well until it gets the real paste and taste. Take it out from the hearth and let it cool. Later, cut them into pieces. It’s time to enjoy a piece of Pineapple Millet Halva with a nice plain tea. 🧈☕ Mother had prepared a hurullo dish to try with Millet puree for the next day. So I also prepared a dhal curry with tempered mushroom. I cooked it by keeping more gravy because my father is such a curry lover.😅 So whenever he is ready to dine, he needs more gravy. 😅 This dish is so good to try with puree when the tamarind syrup is added. 🧆🫕 Once other curries were prepared, Millet puree was made at last. Father dipped the puree in the gravy and enjoyed it. He really loved the every bit of it. Even mother enjoyed the puree as usual. When they enjoyed the dish, brother didn’t even look at it.
