President-elect Donald Trump says he had a very productive meeting with the Canadian prime minister at his Mar-A-Lago estate in Florida Friday night. That surprise visit came just days after Trump threatened to impose a 25 per cent tariff on Canadian goods. Justin Trudeau thanked his host on social media saying he’s looking forward to working with the president-elect again but the prime minister said little else about what was discussed. Tonight we’re learning exclusive details about what was discussed and the promises made. Mercedes Stephenson reports.

The union representing Canada Post workers has now filed an unfair labour practice complaint to the Canada Industrial Relations Board. That move comes after Canada Post temporarily laid off some striking employees which the union is calling an intimidation tactic. The job action is already having a major impact ahead of the busy holiday season and as Catherine Urquhart reports, that includes pivotal donations for charities.

For the first time in modern history a Métis government — the Red River Métis in Manitoba — has signed a treaty with Ottawa. The last time a treaty was signed was way back in 1870, but the federal government did not live up to its end of the deal. Melissa Ridgen explains how today’s landmark agreement is looking to right those historical wrongs.
