After taking his official visit to #Colorado, Benson returned to Bloomington, where he started the process of packing. Benson plans to be at Colorado the first week in January.
The 6-foot-6, 310-pound Benson had extensive experience playing both right guard and right tackle during his time with the Hoosiers. So, he has versatility. But Benson will most likely factor in as a tackle with the Buffaloes.
"I definitely enjoy playing tackle," he said. "I think tackle just allows you to be more athletic, use your attributes more."

Coming out of Southaven (Miss.) High in 2020, Benson was a three-star recruit that chose Indiana over other Power 5 offers, from Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
"It was definitely a big, big difference getting recruited out of the transfer portal than it was getting recruited out of high school," he said. "Because I had already been on the field in college, people have already seen what I can do. I have already showcased that for them so you are more of a priority. When you have the experience, knowledge, the fundamentals that don't have to be taught, they can get you caught up with the playbook and have you get started right away."
Benson saw action in a total of 24 games during his time at Indiana. He will have two years of eligibility remaining to compete at CU.

"I have learned a lot by playing in those games because you have to have confidence in yourself and remind yourself that this is what you do every day in practice; and try to maximize that opportunity," he said. "It's not that you're going to come in and not need coaching, but when you've played and developed a lot, you are already kind of hip to the process of it all. You already know it a little bit. You just have to get a feel for their teaching style and the different environment."
New Colorado offensive line coach Phil Loadholt has a style Benson feels confident he will mesh well with. The 37-year old Loadholt most recently served as an offensive line analyst at Oklahoma the previous two seasons. He also spent two years as an offensive line analyst at Ole Miss.
"That's my guy, I am not going to lie. I felt that presence when he walked in," Benson said of Loadholt. "We chopped it up. He's the real dude. He's down to earth. He is quiet. He doesn't say too much but he is going to get his point across. I can't wait to get his knowledge and have him teach me what he knows. I look forward to doing that. That's a relationship I will definitely cherish a lot."
