This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Acura ADX . Many have been waiting for Acura to bring a subcompact SUV to their lineup, meet the new ADX, it was on display at the LA Auto Show. Would you consider this new Acura?
The Acura ADX is equivalent to the Honda HR-V in size, there is only one difference, it’s 5.9” longer but the wheelbase remains the same so passenger space is equal. You can see the difference with the long hood and slightly longer rear compared to the HR-V.
This Acura ADX gets the same powertrain that’s in the Integra, a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder matched to a CVT which Acura says is sport tuned and there are paddle shifters. It gets 200 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, standard AWD in Canada. FWD and AWD options in the US. The AWD system can send up to 50% of engine torque to the rear wheels. It comes standard with a sport-tuned fully independent suspension and there are four standard drive modes, the top trim adds an individual mode to make five. There were two Acura ADX A-spec models on display in a few different colours, grey with a red and black interior and the bright blue with a black interior. In the US, you also get another interior colour combo Orchid/blue which is a first for Acura. You can definitely see some HR-V influence in the interior, there are similarities like the 9” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, the traditional shifter and all the knobs and buttons. The honeycomb accent is there but it doesn’t extend across the dash. The ADX has plenty of standard features like the larger screen, a 10.2” digital driver display, wireless charger, 8-speaker audio system, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a power driver’s seat, panoramic sunroof and a power tailgate with walk away close. In the US, a heated steering wheel and a panoramic sunroof are not standard but available.
The Acura ADX will arrive at dealerships next spring and will start in the mid-$40,000 CAD price range and in the US mid-$30,000 USD.
