Abrasion is the wearing away of tooth tissue by a mechanical process.
It is nothing but the Friction between tooth and an external agent.

Causes :
Most common cause of abrasion is Overzealous tooth brushing
Improper use of dental floss, toothpicks etc
Masticatory abrasion - if the tooth wear occurs on the occlusal and incisal surface due to friction from the food we eat ( eg. granola, nuts, all bran cereal)

Signs and symptoms of dental abrasion include
Rounded V-shaped notches on the cervical region which are usually,
Worn out, polished and shiny surfaces
If the lesion is restricted to enamel - may not be painful, however if untreated lesion can lead to
Dentin exposure - which causes dentinal hypersensitivity
In most severe cases, u may even find pulpal exposure...but it is not as frequent

Steps in treatment
Moisture control is the most (important step for longevity of restoration) - so u can use of rubber dam if possible, the biggest challenge is to control the exudation of gingival fluid especially whn the leaions extend sub gingivally— you can use gingival retraction cords, or a gingival barrier to manage this problem...
After adequate moisture control, you can Restore with GIC, RMGIC, GIC/RMGIC liner laminated with composite or resin composite with dentin bonding agent

What is the most Preferred option for restoration of non cervical carious lesions according to research?

1st option is use of RMGIC
