Today, I’m joined by the incredibly talented guitarist – and all-round top guy – Krenar Cilku to take an exclusive first look at the brand new 2025 Ibanez Artcore lineup of semi-hollow electric guitars!

I often think that the Artcore (and Artcore Expressionist) ranges go quite under the radar, simply because Ibanez is way more known for its more pointy and high gain-appropriate guitars like the RG, AZ, and so on.

But for those after an excellently specced and well-priced alternative to something like a Gibson/Epiphone 335 or 339, the Artcore range is an excellent choice,. I myself have owned an exquisite AS73FM for a number of years, and the 2025 offerings look to have raised the game for the Artcore line considerably.

The first guitars Krenar and I check out are the AS93: specifically, the AS93QMSP in Dark Brown Sunburst, the Black AS93SP, and the AS93FM in Transparent Moss Green. These three guitars share most specs, but the AS93QMSP has a quilted maple top, while the AS93QMSP’s is flamed maple, and the AS93FM’s is linden.

Elsewhere, you get Ibanez’s AS Expressionist 3-piece nyatoh/maple set neck with 22 medium frets and a bound macassar ebony fingerboard. The AS93QMSP and the AS93SP are rocking a pretty bling Tree Of Life inlay, while the AS93FM goes for simple yet classy blocks.

You also get Ibanez’s Super 80 humbucking pickups in the AS93QMSP and the AS93SP – yes, the same ones that are in the IC420 Iceman! – and Super 58s in the AS93FM. All three guitars have Ibanez’s Gibraltar Performer Bridge and Quik Change tailpiece.

These guitars are great for hollow body-approved styles like jazz and blues, but they’re also fantastic all-rounders thanks to their beefy humbuckers and should be at home for anything from pristine clean to heavy rock tones.

After the AS93, we check out the AS73G, which is the slightly more affordable little brother of the AS93 and looks absolutely stunning in a satin Moonstone Silver Flat finish. The AS73 has a linden top and the AS Artcore nyatoh set neck with 22 medium frets on what is a bound rosewood board with block inlays. You also get the Gibraltar Performer Bridge and Quik Change tailpiece here, and for pickups we have a pair of Ibanez’s Classic Elite humbuckers.
