It's easy to think that Blues is just 12 bar blues with the occasional 8 bar song like Key to the Highway.
But there's quite a few examples great old Blues tunes that don't fit this mold. In this lesson, we'll look at a 9 bar blues pattern that is based on the legendary song "Sitting on Top of the World" by the Mississippi Sheiks.
Besides being a great song, it's worth a study because of the odd number of bars that somehow sounds so natural.
