Roblox just banned Schlep... and I think I know the answer.Schlep is a Roblox Youtuber that catches and gets Roblox predators arrested. But Roblox has banned and threatened to sue Schlep. On top of that, Roblox recently released a statement condemning all “vigilante activities”. With this sort of response, why is Roblox being so aggressive?
Well it’s part of a pattern. A pattern where Roblox (like me) hides from its problems.
And this Schlep ban is only one of the multiple different instances where Roblox exacerbates its predator problem for the sake of shareholder value. There’s Roblox UGC emotes being a horrible idea, yet it’s still being added. There’s Roblox’s open source sentinel AI, when Roblox’s AI moderation is as blind as Helen Keller. And there’s Roblox’s plan to add dating, on a platform with a predator problem…
