I wanted to try out the MicroFreak's CV outs, and they worked really well too. I had to tune the Volca Modular's response to the MicroFreak's voltages, but then it actually was in tune. Unlike the 2nd Volca for some reason, which was off by something like a quarter tone? I think it works in the arrangement, I leant into it, it adds an instability to the piece that I think fits it quite well. (Note to self: FUNC & Ratio for tuning.)
Used gear:
Korg Volca Modular (2)
Arturia MicroFreak
Korg Monotron Delay
Korg Volca Mix
Korg NTS-1
Zoom H1n
The Monotron was between the MicroFreak and the mixer, the NTS-1 was the mixer's send effect.
I liked the Volca Mix a bit better this time. In part because yes it's noisy, but it isn't anywhere as noisy as the Monotron, so that was that. And also because I used some of its performance features with the DJ filters and the FX send levels, which are neat. It does work really well for tiny setups like this. It just has its limitations.
