On 21 December 2000, ITN joined a media frenzy to record global superstar Madonna and her soon-to-be husband Guy Ritchie christening their baby son Rocco Ritchie at Dornoch Cathedral in the Scottish Highlands. Among the A-list guests were new wave sensation Sting, fashion designer Stella McCartney, and actor Gwyneth Paltrow. ITN's cameras captured guests as they arrived at and departed the 17th century cathedral as well as the scale of the media and security operations that had transformed the foggy and usually sleepy town of Dornoch. Locals watched with the press as some of the world's best known celebrities arrived for the christening service. Those interviewed didn't mind putting up with the press in town, any inconvenience seemingly outweighed by the excitement of it all.
