A short backstory for this song ' it was initially inspired by 2 things that were stuck in my memory ' number one people like 'ian curtis ' kurt cobain' amy winehouse all fragile broken butterflies .

Number 2 inspiration ' i was in auschwitz birkenau standing at the memorial pond where the ashes of all who perished in auschwitz were laid to rest ' as i stood there in the serene silence ' there were about 50 butterflies hovering above this memorial pond ' not actually going anywhere just circling above the pond and it was a sacred beautiful moment in my life .

This song just happened it presented itself to us we knew the song before we wrote it ' it was a really strange experience it kind of came to us fully formed in our minds and the song was just waiting in the ether somewhere .
