Top Gear star Jeremy Clarkson to host new ITV show

TV experts have described Oxfordshire farmer and landlord Jeremy Clarkson's new show on ITV as a "massive show of support".

The former host of BBC's Top Gear and Prime Video's The Grand Tour has found new fame in the county thanks to his Clarkson's Farm programme.

Having purchased Diddly Squat Farm in 2008, the Chadlington spot has been the focus of the smash-hit documentary on Prime Video.

Now with four series to date since its 2021 debut and a fifth in the making, Mr Clarkson is well-known for his farming as well as motoring.

Yet it is via his quiz show presenting of ITV's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, a role he has held since 2018, that his new TV show comes into play.

Millionaire Hot Seat, a spin-off from the popular original series, will see 18 episodes in a faster-paced version of the quiz format.

Already shown in Australia since 2009, the new show will come to UK screens in 2026.

The move is seen as a big backing of the former Top Gear star by ITV, with The Sun reporting the news.

A TV insider told the national newspaper: "This is a massive show of support for Jeremy from ITV, who want to keep him with the channel because they recognise the fact he's still one of telly's biggest stars."

The 65-year-old also recently had a TV advert for his alcohol brand Hawkstone banned from screens due to its use of profanity.

Clarkson's Farm star Harriet Cowan's scathing response to trolls telling her to 'stop wearing makeup'

Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan has hit back at trolls who criticised her for “dressing up and wearing makeup”.

The nurse and farmer, 24, appeared in the fourth series of the Prime Video hit to temporarily replace Kaleb Cooper at Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm in Oxfordshire.

Fans have praised her down-to-earth nature after she admitted she’d never watched a full episode of Clarkson’s Farm and lauded her for breaking stereotypes about female farmers.

However, some viewers claimed she looked too glam while she was working on the farm, with a common critique being: "Stop dressing up and wearing makeup, you're a farmer."

Cowan shut down the backlash by sharing a TikTok of herself dancing and lipsyncing to Selena Gomez’s song Hands Yo Myself, miming the lyrics: "I mean I could, but why would I want to?"

She stressed in the caption: "Farmers wear makeup too."

Earlier this week, the Derbyshire-born farmhand said she hopes to challenge “stereotypes” about farmers.

"Just because I'm a small blonde who likes to curl her hair and wear make-up and things like that doesn't mean I can't be a farmer,” she said on BBC Breakfast News.

For me, it's really important. I think it's just changing that stereotype of being a farmer and what a farmer is. But I'm definitely still going to farm, you're never getting me off this place!"

Cowan also addressed her future on Clarkson’s Farm amid her growing popularity with viewers

We've always left it very open. I'm here if he needs me, but no plans at the minute. If he needs me, I'm here,” she said.
