Ethiopia has entered its second year of war—and yet so little has been reported on this major conflict between Prime Minister Ahmed Abiy’s government and the Tigrayan People’s Liberation Front or the TPLF. It started off as a war to consolidate power but has now morphed into a full scale ethnic conflict with no real end in sight. Once a peacemaker, Nobel Peace Prize winner PM Abiy now stands accused of ethnic cleansing overseeing a tragic war of revenge that has pitted civilians against each other.
Note: We traveled to the Amhara region of Ethiopia in September and October 2021 to report on this ongoing civil war.
