In this video, we explore the behavior of gas slugs in a pipeline system and their effects on pipeline stress. We analyze a scenario where high-velocity slugs (12.5 m/s) periodically travel through an 8-inch steel pipe, generating significant forces at bends and elbows. Using B31.3 code for stress analysis, we demonstrate how to apply slug forces, manage load cases, and address overstress in unsupported sections. Learn how to improve system stability and support design to mitigate dynamic slug loads.
