Tuesday Blues #249 -
In this lesson, we preview a premium lesson from BGI and talk about a funky little slide groove in Spanish Tuning. Spanish tuning refers to the intervals that you tune your strings to, from low to high the intervals are:
5th - Root - 5th - Root - Major 3rd - 5th
The cool thing is, by looking at the tuning as the interval pattern, you can tune to different keys for a different sound that is still rooted in the Spanish Tuning sound. For example, Open G is tuned D G D G B D which follows the Spanish tuning interval pattern. So does Open A (EAEAC#E). Both of these are considered Spanish Tuning.
For this lesson, we’ll tune to Open G Spanish but use a capo to get into Open A. In the video, I break down a funky little slide groove that will get your foot stomping and arm you with a few slick slide moves.
