The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has rejected the judgment delivered by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos, which acquitted and discharged former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose from a money laundering case. Justice Aneke cleared Fayose of all wrongdoing related to his tenure as governor. In response, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that the commission is reviewing the ruling and preparing to appeal. Fayose was re-arraigned in 2019 alongside Spotless Investment Limited on charges of money laundering and stealing N6.9 billion.
