I found something that sounds much better than shimmer reverb: the Ensemble function of the new Strymon Cloudburst that replicates vintage string ensemble sounds!

It sounds fuller, more organic and a lot less annoying and synthetic than the usual shimmer note that follows what you're playing with an unpleasant peircing sound.
