About the Song: About the Song: 'Parchment Life' was born on one of those wild, lightning-strike nights when creativity just hits you like a hurricane! I was jamming in my apartment when my neighbor started blasting some classic reggae beats. Instead of getting annoyed, I thought, "Why not mash these worlds together?" The dreampop-meets-reggae experiment began right then and there! I grabbed my tape recorder and just started flowing with whatever came out. The lyrics? Pure stream-of-consciousness stuff about feeling pulled in different directions by everyone's expectations. My sister thinks I'm changing too much, my friends think I'm stuck in my ways—can't win, right? So I decided to make a tune about rebuilding yourself day by day, tear by tear, with some Rastafarian spirituality thrown in for good measure. This song is basically what happens when you stop trying to fit into boxes and just let your musical influences have a wild party together!
