On October 20, 1977 the plane carrying Lynyrd Skynyrd to their next concert in Baton Rouge, LA crashed into an EXTREMELY dense pine forest outside of Gillsburg, MS. It was a tragedy for all involved. RIP Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, Dean and the families of the two pilots. The crash marked a devastating turning point in the band's history, just three days after the release of their album Street Survivors. Despite the immense loss, Lynyrd Skynyrd's legacy lived on through their music and the eventual reformation of the band by surviving members.
