We might think of krautrock’s melodic variant embodied by the legendary Kraftwerk (who have even been dubbed the Beach Boys of the Ruhr), of Canadian Neil Young's engaging experiments with vocoders on the singular album Trans, and of pianist Herbie Hancock's innate fascination with keyboards of all kinds, starting with Moog and Minimoog synthesizers. Recorded at the Culturebox Festival, this set by Bon Voyage Organisation falls neatly into this club of authentic creators. Accompanied by undeniable talents such as Adrien Soleiman on saxophone and Arnaud Sèche on flute, keyboardist Adrien Durand unravels a rich imagination. This is apparent right from the opening track, the incredible “Nocturne 305.” Shrouded in subtle layers of sound, this electronic number heralds a colorful set. The same is true of “La Course” with its lively arrangements, and the heady “Berimbau,” a track that strongly evokes Brazilian culture. Performed at the famous Paris venue Élysée Montmartre, this show is complemented by some captivating visuals: highly recommended!
