Linkin Park, formerly known as Xero, released their debut album Hybrid Theory on October 24th 2000.

Hybrid Theory would go onto to be one of the most successful albums of the 21st century and redefined the boundaries of rock music and connected with millions around the world.

But it was no easy ride for this debut album to see the light of day, it faced many obstacles along its path. Prior to its release, the band struggled for years to land a record deal. They played numerous showcases and even opened for System Of A Down at LA’s Whisky A Go-Go for their first-ever show, all while constantly facing rejection from major labels.

But their persistence paid off and struck a chord with fans all around the world, turning emotional anthems like "In the End" "One Step Closer" "Crawling" "Papercut" and "Points Of Authority" into generational hits. The album went on to sell over 10 million copies in the U.S., achieving Diamond certification and becoming one of the best-selling debut albums in rock history.

The success of Hybrid Theory wasn’t just about numbers though, it was about how deeply it resonated with people. The raw emotions in Chester Bennington’s voice, paired with Mike Shinoda’s innovative fusion of hip-hop and rock, created something entirely unique. Despite their early challenges, Linkin Park’s determination and willingness to push boundaries re-defined rock and metal for a generation.
