Why we shouldn’t worry about Zootopia 2: People keep freaking out it’ll be bad, but let’s chill. Unlike Wreck-It Ralph 2 (which even its creators didn’t want to make), or Frozen 2 (which had skeptical creators), Zootopia’s team wanted a sequel right after the first. They’re not just doing it for Disney—they actually like the idea. Plus, the fandom’s wanted this for years, unlike Ralph or even parts of Frozen and Moana’s fandoms. Most of the original crew is back—except Byron Howard and Rich Moore. Honestly, that’s fine—they also worked on Wreck-It Ralph 2, and we know how that turned out. Bob Iger said in 2023 that Disney would refocus on quality. Yes, Disney’s had some questionable projects lately, but most started under Bob Chapek, who cared more about profits. Zootopia 2 mostly developed under Iger, who prioritizes quality. And sure, Disney’s made weird choices lately, but this is Walt Disney Animation Studios, not Marvel or Star Wars. I’m not saying Zootopia 2 will be a masterpiece, but there’s no reason to panic about it.
