Luster Dawn has made a terrible mistake. After being overwhelmed by worries that her life path is being dictated by others with no regard for her thoughts on the matter, fighting with her mother and running away from home, she tries to figure out what is scaring her most and find out her TRUE destiny by using a forbidden blood magic spell from an old book given to her by Zecora's inexperienced student, Kinyongo. Yet her fears and destiny are apparently the same thing: to be an alicorn princess who inherits rulership of Equestria from her mentor, Twilight Sparkle. Unable to get rid of her wings on her own, Luster goes into hiding while Kinyongo searches for an antidote to the original spell. Unfortunately, the spell is also making Luster's magic unpredictable and increasingly violent, making her dangerous to be around until Kinyongo succeeds. Cue Discord zapping her to Canterlot to finally talk to Flurry Heart about the real reason they broke up: Luster's worries over her life being decided by those around her, including Flurry, who wanted to marry Luster and had intended to propose on the night of the break-up. It seems everyone has their own ideas of how Luster Dawn's life is supposed to go - everyone except Luster herself. Now if she can just stay out of everypony's way until Kinyongo sends word that she has found the antidote, maybe everything can still be okay ...
