EDGEY – Unattended generative eurorack modular ambient jungle IDM

I tend to be a bit more deliberate in my sequencing, but I’ve always appreciated what the generative folks are doing with their modular setups. So I thought I’d give it a little try and experiment.

This entire sequence is generated by Marbles.

Marbles is in “drum beat” mode, the T side: the kick output sent to the BIA as a bassline, the hat output goes to a multiple patched to Branches (triggering the hats or the breakbeats) and the ADSR for the Piston Honda, the snare output goes to Sinc Buccina patched to the Loquelic. The X side send pitches to Piston Honda and Loquelic. Branches splits the signal 50/50 with either one of the breakbeats in the Sample Drum (think break/amen) or a hi-hat from the Crucible. The Y output goes to the bias control, with Déjà vu set to introduce new bits slowly. LFOs from Octocontroller send to the Branches CV control morph between the breaks and the hats – and control various parameters on the Loquelic, Piston Honda, Crucible and BIA. Both oscillators are running though delay, verb and Clouds. Lots of constrained randomness.

While I like to make some harsh rhythm noise, breakcore, industrial, etc and get a little aggressive with my music, it was nice to squeak out something pretty and melodic from the Loquelic, Piston Honda and BIA – instead of always sounding like a 90s breakcore afterparty at 2AM. :)

It's a pretty simple setup, not breaking any new ground, but enjoyable to listen to as it’s constantly changing, fading in, fading out, building up and fading away.
