My favorite part of solo acoustic blues is the fact that one player can sit down with a guitar and play the bass, chords and melody on one instrument.
For me, Perpetual Blues Machine by Keb Mo was the first acoustic blues song that I really tried to dig into. It sounded like a complete band even though it was just one guitar. This song (and others) helped bring me out of shuffleland and into real solo acoustic blues.
In this video, we'll take a look at an quick 4 bar pattern that you can use to help fill out your solo acoustic blues playing. It's got chord moves and strumming with a built-in melody and even a short bass run or two.
