Referencing the mood of 1960s European cinema and composers such as Ennio Morricone and John Barry, the track was recorded entirely on vintage analogue gear. With harpsichord, analogue synths, and slow, dramatic strings over a tight downtempo groove, fitting seamlessly into a balearic or chillout DJ set.
This instrumental version, stripped of its cryptic vocals, allows the track to lean even further into its atmospheric, cinematic qualities. Its eerie textures taking the listener on a time-warped journey somewhere slightly dark, other worldly and very surreal.
Over two decades on, Lovely Head still sounds like it exists in a timeless world of its own.
Featured on 'Classic Balearic Chillout DJ Mix' a long lost chill out mix from the turn of the millennium featuring a diverse set of artists such as Fleetwood Mac, U2, Massive Attack, Moby, Cinematic Orchestra & Goldfrapp.
