The Australian Order of Old Bastards is an organisation started by the 'Arch Bastard' Mr Leo Bradshaw, and in 1973 had nearly 40,000 members and raised around $30,000 a year for charity. Part of the ritual was to spot another member, slap him on the back and say "Hello, you old bastard."

The ABC tried out the greeting in the streets of Sydney with some non-members.
