🗣️ Q&A with Doghouse DJ 🗣️
⏳ How long have you been collecting and mixing for?
I’ve been collecting music for as long as I can remember—over 30 years now! I started (trying) to mix in around 1993 or ’94.
💡 What sparked your interest in digging/collecting?
I used to go record shopping with my dad every Saturday morning. We’d hit Crash Records, where he’d grab soul CDs and I’d get a Hip Hop vinyl import. Great times!
🔍 Where do you find your music?
These days, I’m mostly digital with my home setup, so Bandcamp is my go-to. There’s absolute gold to be found on there.
🎶 Any label/artist/collective recommendations for someone to start digging?
Leng is a fantastic label—the new Payfone track is sublime. I also check out Ruf Dug, Parkway, Pacific Rhythm, Toy Tonics, and more. There’s a wealth of great music out there, just gotta dig!
🌟 Is there anyone that you take inspiration from? If so, who and why?
I get a lot of inspiration from friends, especially Keith Gillott, who I DJ with at Doghouse. He’s a constant source of fresh music and ideas. Listening to different people’s approach has always been inspiring to me.
