The album Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz and João Gilberto was recorded 55 years ago. It was restoring the prestige of American jazz which, at the time, was in decline. It’s one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time, and received Grammy Awards for Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group and Best Engineered Recording – Non-Classical. A couple of years later It became the first non-American album to win a Grammy for Album of the Year in 1965.

Getting together for a Getz/Gilberto Tribute is the saxophonist Rodrigo Sha, a pupil of Stan Getz, with a renowned bossa-nova career playing with the well-known Brazilian group Bossacucanova; the singer Bebel Gilberto and having countless recordings with the master of bossa Roberto Menescal; and the singer and bossa-nova
guitar player Mauricio Pessoa, a pupil of João Gilberto, with a recognized discography and career between Rio and New York.

After an epic sold-out release show at the most renowned jazz club in the world, Blue Note, in the birthplace of bossa-nova, Rio de Janeiro, Getz/Gilberto by Sha/Pessoa and other talented performers now go on tour with vision, vigour and voice.
