At DRG, we have conducted in-depth analyses of tube rupture in heat exchangers, in this case focusing on fluid-structure interaction (FSI) phenomena. Our simulations capture critical aspects such as vortex formation, vortex shedding, velocity profiles, pressure distributions, and the forces exerted on the tubes. These dynamic forces can induce vibrations that lead to significant displacements and, over time, fatigue failures—especially at the welds.
