This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2026 Kia Sportage. We are at the LA Auto Show and Kia unveiled the refreshed Sportage, what do you think?
The 2026 Kia Sportage gets updates across all powertrains, gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid. New standard equipment, enhancements in design, new technology, new hybrid trims and more powerful hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The gas powertrain is carried forward, it has a 2.5L 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 187 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. FWD and AWD options are available. It can tow 3500 pounds.
The 2026 Kia Sportage hybrid and PHEV get a small boost in power, an extra 4 horsepower for the hybrid and 7 horsepower for the plug-in hybrid. Both have a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid has 231 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque and the PHEV 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. They can both tow 2,000 pounds. FWD and AWD options are available for the hybrid. Standard AWD for the PHEV.
The 2026 Kia Sportage exterior design has a more rugged look for 2026 with new front and rear bumpers, distinct styling for X-Line models, revised lighting including, a stacked LED headlamp design with optional cube style projection, Amber star map LED daytime running lights, LED star map taillamps and new designed 17”, 18” and 19” wheels.
The2026 Kia Sportage gas model continues to offer X-Line and X-Pro trims and the hybrid has two new trims, S for a sportier feel and X-Line offering you a more rugged hybrid design.
2026 Kia Sportage Pricing has not been announced but it will hit dealerships Q2 of next year.
