Here's how to SOUNDPROOF any car to make it quieter, more refined and rattle free! Best of all, all you need is inexpensive items found at the local home improvement store.

Aluminum waterproof roof repair was used to deaden vibrations and carpet felt was used to block higher frequency road noise. These are budget materials used in place of Dynamat, Second Skin, peel n seal, or Fat Mat.

The interior was disassembled entirely to get access to the inside of all the panels. Felt was glued to the inside of the interior panels, and the aluminum waterproofing was adhered to the inside of the body panels.

The result is a reduction in road noise and rattling when the sound system is turned up. Wind noise from the frameless windows is now the predominant sound when driving on the highway. However for an already quiet car, the amount of effort was probably not worth the hassle of dis-assembly.

The vehicle demonstrated here is a Toyota Solara.
