Installing Window Wells on a Farmhouse Foundation (Field Stone with Brick on Top)

In this video, Alex installs 4 basement window wells on the farmhouse, built in 1907. There were never proper wells installed, and basement water intrusion has always been an issue. The main complication of this project is the style of the house's foundation - it is a field stone base, with several courses of brick laid on top. This creates an uneven surface to set a window well against, so Alex did quite a bit of rock chiseling to make these fit. The window wells used are not your typical Home Depot variety, they are heavy gauge steel we had made-to-order from Admiral Steel, along with strong metal grates to place on top. Project Cost Breakdown: 4 quality window wells and grates, shipped from Minnesota: $791 Concrete screws & washers: $15 Bag of mortar: $6 Gravel: $35 Makita rotary hammer: $90 Rotary hammer bit/chisel set: $35 TOTAL: $972 About Us: We are Alex and Elaina, a couple in our mid 20s who are currently living on the 3-acre farm in southern Pennsylvania where Alex grew up. We have a garden, backyard chickens, and build or fix anything that we need to. We still work corporate day jobs, but are working to eventually leave the 9-5 lifestyle in favor of a self-built, debt-free, homestead on 6 acres nearby. Something that differentiates us from other YouTube homestead channels is our transparency on the cost of our projects - there is usually a breakdown right in the description!
