Standard form, scientific notation and standard index form all mean the same thing.
They are a very useful way of writing really big numbers and really small numbers. The first number must always be more than 1 and less than 10. Then the X10 number has a power. For large numbers, the power is 2 or more. For really small numbers, the power will be a negative number.
In this video we look at how to write a normal number into standard form, and how to write standard form back into a normal number.
