Today we shall unbox the lucky bamboo plant bought online and then repot this into a glass container with gravel sand and water as growing medium and then talk on few tips on How to grow lucky bamboo palm at home.

This one bought online looks a very healthy plant. You need to check the leaf color and condition to tell whether the plant will survive or not. This seems quite healthy and packed well with a wet sponge wrapped around the roots, Also you can see some gelatin material at roots. This is to hold water and moisture and keep the plant alive during transport.
Now quickly some info about the plant. Lucky bamboo belongs to Dracena family with scientific name as Dracaena braunii. Common names include Sander's dracaena, ribbon dracaena, lucky bamboo, curly bamboo, Chinese water bamboo, friendship bamboo, Goddess of Mercy plant, Belgian evergreen, and ribbon plant.
Keeping lucky bamboo inside houses and business places is believed to bring happiness and prosperity, and this belief has promoted sales of lucky bamboo shoots grown in decorative pots. The plant has become the most popular indoor plant in certain parts of India, where the plants are usually imported from China and Taiwan.
Well, For time being we will repot this in a small glass container, then later will shift to a larger container or do some experiments with it by trying in different media and also propagate it later.
For now, I am using some medium grade colourful gravel sand and water as the growing medium. First fill the bottom of the container with some gravel and then place the bamboo palm and then pour the gravel sand around it to cover the roots and some lower stems. Then pour water into the container. That’s it. Do not place in direct sunlight, you can keep it indoors where indirect light comes in during daytime.
Nothing special care tips for lucky bamboo except keep changing the water every 15 days or so by checking the bottom stems for rotting signs which can be softening of the stem. Press to check it.
Apart from this , if you place it in a wider container, growth is always better. I shall repot this in a larger container later.
