In tonight's top story: With less than 24 hours until election day, both candidates in the U.S. presidential election are campaigning in battleground states, aiming to energize every last voter. Jackson Proskow reports on the final pitches of Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump, and why a “big convincing win” is more important than ever in this election.

Trump held one of his last rallies in Kenosha, Wis., where protests were previously sparked in the city after police repeatedly shot a Black man, Jacob Blake, in August. Jeff Semple reports from Kenosha on the state's female voting trends, and how those in the suburbs are also concerned with another crisis ahead of the election: the COVID-19 pandemic.

Another key issue in this year's presidential election is the social unrest sparked by the killing of another Black man, George Floyd, by police in Minneapolis, Minn., which further sparked the Black Lives Matter movement to become a mainstream phenomenon and call to action around the world. Heather Yourex-West reports from Floyd's hometown on how the movement could shape upcoming election results.

Plus, tensions are high in Portland as election night approaches. Oregon's governor has put the National Guard on standby as mass protests and riots flooded the city following Trump's win in the 2016 presidential election. Global's Sarah MacDonald has more.

In Canada, the COVID-19 pandemic is causing more restrictions as several provinces, including B.C. and Manitoba, set new records of virus case counts. Abigail Bimman has more on the newly imposed restrictions on restaurants and bars in Winnipeg, Man.
