There are growing calls for a public inquiry into the shooting massacre in Nova Scotia where 22 people were killed. Elizabeth McSheffrey reports, loved ones of the victims want answers, and are questioning if the RCMP's response may have cost lives. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has spoken with provincial and territorial leaders about plans for the eventual reopening of the economy amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. As David Akin explains, while there are national guidelines to balance, provinces will have the flexibility to move at their own pace. Meanwhile, as Canada seeks international aid to meet demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg is warning leaders not to rely on importing medical equipment. Mercedes Stephenson sat down with Stoltenberg for the West Block. As COVID-19 cases climb towards one million in the U.S., several states are relaxing restrictions and allowing some businesses to re-open. But as Jennifer Johnson explains, many are reluctant to return to the old way of life. The pandemic is also creating new hurdles for humanitarian groups working to get food and medical supplies to refugees living in conflict zones in the Middle East. Crystal Goomansingh reports. In the Caribbean, a Canadian animal welfare group operating in St. Lucia is caring for dozens of animals that can't be sent overseas for adoption due to COVID-19.
