This is couple car comparison of the Ford Escape and the new Ford Bronco Sport. Both of these new SUVs are based on the same platform and share the same engines and transmissions. The Ford Bronco Sport and the Escape both come with two engines, a 2L Ecoboost engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission; it has 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. This engine is only available on the top trim on both vehicles. All other trims come with a 1.5L Ecoboost 3-cylinder engine also with an 8 speed automatic transmission, it has 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. Ford also offers two Escape hybrids, one of which is a plug-in. Those powertrains consist of a 2.5L 4-cylinder with two electric motors, which combine to make 221 horsepower. Both are very comfortable to drive and you don’t feel like you are lacking any power in this 2L Ecoboost engine. It may be a different story with the 3-cylinder engine. These AWD utilities come with their own set of drive modes, however, the Ford Escape isn’t designed for off-roading like the Bronco Sport is. The Escape comes with drive modes like normal, sport and slippery. The Bronco on the other hand gets a whole terrain management system called GOAT, which stands for, goes over any type of terrain. The drive modes include sand, slippery, sport, normal and eco. The Badlands model comes with unique suspension tuning, a 1 inch lift has been added for extra ground clearance and stouter shock absorbers along with a a torque vectoring rear differential. The Ford Escape offers a fuel efficient , quiet and comfortable ride especially on a long trip. We also found the Bronco Sport to have a fairly quiet cabin as well. The Escape’s exterior is very different looking than the first generation vehicle. It now has sophisticated styling with its clean lines and soft shape. The top Titanium trim comes with LED headlights and fog lights. heated side-view mirrors, dual chrome exhaust tips, a black roof rack, hands-free foot activated lift-gate, 19” wheels and a mini spare tire. The Bronco Sport picks up some of the characteristics of the first generation Escape, with its boxy design while still paying tribute to the 60’s Bronco. It has round LED headlights and fog lamps, vertical LED tail-lamps, a manual lift-gate with a flip up rear glass, a safari style roof and 17” wheels. Both the Escape Titanium and Bronco Sport Badlands come with an 8” touchscreen. The Bronco offers a 6.5” LCD instrument cluster and the Escape comes with a 12.3” digital instrument cluster on the top trim. The Escape comes standard with heated front seats, sliding rear seats, a heated, leather wrapped steering wheel, Apple Carplay & Android Auto, driver seat memory and a B&O 10 speaker sound system. To get a wireless charging pad, a head-up display and a panoramic sunroof, you need to purchase the Titanium Elite package for $3,000. The Bronco Sport also has standard heated from seats, as well as, Apple Carplay and Android Auto but you have to get the Badlands package for $3,000 to get the moonroof, a wireless charging pad, the B&O 10 speaker sound system and a heated steering wheel. One great thing about the Bronco Sport for families is it comes with easy to clean cloth and leather trimmed seating surfaces and washable rubber flooring, so after a long day of adventures, you will have no problem cleaning the interior of your Bronco Sport. This is definitely a family friendly utility especially if you have small children who tend to have a few accidents. There is even a bottle opener on the tailgate for those of you who like to picnic or have a tailgate party.
