This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Mini Countryman small SUV. The small SUV market is the fastest growing segment of the auto industry and this 2021 Mini Countryman is built on a shared platform with the BMW X1. The Mini Countryman has a little less pawer than the BMW but it has incredible handling and road feel, making it the least SUV-like of the small SUVs. Under the hood of the Mini Countryman is a 2L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with an 8 speed automatic transmission with ALL4 AWD with 189 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. For 2021 Mini has updated the Countryman utility to include a re-designed front end with piano black accents and a more rugged design thanks to the bolder front grille and bumper plus the union jack taillights. A nod to their British heritage The rear hatch can be opened with a swipe of your foot for easy access to the cargo space. The 8-inch touch screen is also controlled by a BMW derived dial in the middle of the seats and new soft-touch buttons have been added to the centre dash. No heated steering wheel is offered but it will be added for 2022.
