Last time, Philippe cleaned up the deep ruts, making the garden look much neater. But now, as we start working on the driveway, things are about to get a whole lot messier before they get better. What started as a simple clean-up quickly turned into a much bigger job—one that needs to happen if we ever want a solid, usable driveway. I’ll also show you a drawing to illustrate how the finished driveway will look, but before that… well, the front garden is about to get quite messy again. Whoops.

Right now, we have three ongoing projects: preparing for the barn roof renovation, creating a clean and finished driveway, and Philippe still working on the tractor from time to time—an update on that is coming soon. And actually, there’s a fourth project: the digging behind the barn. That one’s on hold until warmer weather makes moving the soil easier.

This week, though, it’s all about the driveway. Philippe scrapes away layers of soil, revealing different types of stone underneath. Meanwhile, inside the barn, he sets up scaffolding to secure some of the beams—some of which are broken and pushing out the walls under the weight of the roof. Using struts, he reinforces the structure in preparation for the big barn renovation, the first major step in restoring the space.

And when the rain gets too much, we escape inside for some well-earned time by the fire, finally putting together long-awaited gifts: Philippe builds a Star Wars AT-ST Walker model, and I assemble a LEGO bouquet set. A cozy way to end the day, followed by some family time when Odin is back from daycare.
