- (Patreon) *Kosmosphär* is a Berlin School "fictional" electronic music project founded in West Germany in the mid-1970s. The band's founders were two young musicians who were part of the kosmische musik movement of the time and were inspired by pioneers such as Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze: Erik Hostmann and Jürgen Kuchs. These two musicians came together with a passion for creating cosmic sounds that opened up to infinity with analog synthesizers. In its early days, Kosmosphär attracted attention with minimalist structures, repetitive sequencers and long compositions that explored the unknown of space.
- *Second Album:*
Released in 1978, Kosmosphär’s *Elektronischer Weltraum Computer* album is a minimalist, computer-based masterpiece that offers a revolutionary approach to the electronic music of the period. The album pushes the boundaries of computer music and electronic sounds and deals with the theme of space in a unique way. Referring to both advanced technology and the early days of digitalization, this album draws attention with its avant-garde and minimalist musical elements, while taking the listener on a futuristic sound journey. It offers a musical experience beyond time with retro-futuristic tones and subtle rhythms blended with analog warmth.
- *Musical Style:*
Kosmosphär bears the typical characteristics of the Berlin School: Slow tempos, deep drones, expansive synth pads and repetitive arpeggios draw the listener into a hypnotic atmosphere. The band's music adopts an ambient style that gives the impression of floating in space, and at times contains tribal and meditative elements. Kosmosphär deals with the themes of cosmic journey in each of its compositions; it takes the listener to the infinity of space, the void between the stars and beyond time. Analog synthesizers, modular synths and sequencers are the band's most important musical tools.
