Great acetate by British band The Mirror, best known for their track "Faster Than Light" which was featured on Bam-Caruso's first Rubble album! This was dubbed from a Bam-Caruso reissue of said acetate, released in 1986.
The band were one of Bath's finest, apparently. They formed in 1963 as The Spectres, changing their name to The Dreaded Spectres by 1965 and The Mirror in 1967 after securing a contract with Philips. The 'A' side of their sole 45 was straight-forward pop, but the flip, a Bob Pierce composition, is what might be termed freakbeat. Some good drumming and fuzz guitar is spoilt by a rather messy mix. Still the single was a minor hit in Germany and they got to appear on the German equivalent of 'Top Of The Pops'.
Pete Frolich joined their line-up in 1969 but within a year they'd disintegrated. Bob Pierce now runs a recording studio in Bristol and produced the new psychedelic sitar band Saddar Bazaar's debut album on Delerium.
