This one is for the Hardware Jam weekend challenge. Bring the drums.

Trying to tame the (new) modular rig! It tales some serious rodeo ridin’ to keep it under control. I love this setup, although it is a bit on the edge – Wired.

My son and I sampled everything we could get our hands on in the house that sounded remotely drum-like or percussive. A perfect way to spend our morning, given the circumstances.

The samples are sequenced in the Digitakt, while Basimilus is laying down the crazy break.

Scanned is playing one low, dirty note, and Rings is playing a top line (sounds a bit like a ice cream van). The main synth line is coming from the Mono Station, running through an LFO’ed high pass filter – the LFO keeps it moving in and out of the mix. 0-Coast is making the big echoey pad sounds, which is then run through a resonator in Ableton Live.

Music is proving to be a prefect outlet at the moment (I guess it always is). Without sounding too cheesy, it’s a chance to express emotion while also feeling really focused.
