Type conversion in JavaScript is the process of converting values between different data types. There are two main types of conversion: explicit type conversion and implicit type conversion.
Explicit type conversion (or type casting) involves manually changing a value from one type to another using functions such as Number(), String(), and Boolean(). For example, Number("123") explicitly converts a string to a number. This method gives the programmer control over how data types are converted.
Implicit type conversion (also known as type coercion) occurs automatically when JavaScript converts types without explicit instructions. For instance, when you add a number to a string like 5 + "5", JavaScript coerces the number into a string, resulting in "55".
So, type casting is when you do the changing, and type coercion is when JavaScript does it for you. Knowing these helps make sure your code works as expected.
