For much of the 1980s, NBC's Must See TV Thursday night lineup blew whatever the other networks had going on that night out of the water with 4 classic comedies — "The Cosby Show" followed by "Family Ties" then "Cheers," and lastly, the one this video will be highlighting, "Night Court." Night Court premiered on January 4, 1984 and ran for nine seasons, ending on May 31, 1992. It followed an eccentric cast of defendants, bailiffs, and public defenders during the night shift of a Manhattan municipal court presided over by a young, unorthodox judge named Harold "Harry" T. Stone, played by Harry Anderson. He's the moral center of the show, with a screwball sense of humor, a love of magic tricks, classic films, and the music of Mel Tormé.
