Before the days of vegan eggnog, gluten-free gingerbread houses, and sugar-free sugar cookies, holiday foods from yesteryear included temptations such as savory Jell-O molds, mayonnaise cakes, and piping-hot Dr. Pepper. Vintage cookbooks would recommend condiments as main ingredients while housewives from the Atomic Age and home cooks from the '60s bravely experimented with ham and marshmallows.
