Peter Robinson, President Reagan's speechwriter and special assistant, recounts the story of Frances Greene, a kind elderly woman from South San Francisco who found herself in an unexpected situation. After giving a small donation to the Republican Party in 1984, she received what she believed was an invitation to attend Reagan's inauguration. Excited by the thought, she traveled to Washington, eager to be part of the occasion.

When Frances arrived at the White House, the staff was initially surprised but treated her with kindness. President Reagan, upon hearing about her journey, decided to meet her himself. During their meeting in the Oval Office, he spent twenty minutes speaking with her, showing genuine warmth and hospitality.
