On The Scene: On Thursday morning, local officials of Laurel, led by Mayor Lyndon Bruce, together with barangay captains, fishermen, and residents, gathered for a communal meal or 'boodle fight' to show that fish like tilapia, bangus , and tawilis caught in Taal Lake are still safe to eat. The local government of Laurel, Batangas is now studying the possibility of declaring a state of calamity and providing alternative sources of income if the search for the missing cockfighting enthusiasts in Taal Lake drags on for months. More than 300 fisherfolk have reportedly complained saying claims that bodies were dumped in the lake have affected their livelihood.
