The new regional bloc, AES, is completely different from ECOWAS. While ECOWAS has been on the sidelines when it comes to insecurity affecting its members, the regional bloc AES has been quite active in dealing with insecurity. This is not surprising given that this was one of the major reasons that it was formed. Recently, President Traore, Captain Goita, and General Chiani launched a joint military operation under the banner of the AES Confederation known as Djekabara. This operation signifies the commitment of the three leaders towards reclaiming peace for their respective countries. But how did the operation commence? Let's find out.

Under the banner of the AES alliance, the three dynamic leaders of the Sahel region launched Djekabara, a joint military operation to ensure the safety of their shared borders. This historic operation was conducted from December 15th to December 22nd, 2024 in the strategic region of the three borders. The "Djèkabara" operation was concentrated around Tessit, located 145 km from Gao, in eastern Mali. Its objective was to dismantle the bases of the armed terrorist groups (GAT) operating in this region. According to local media, citing the Malian Armed Forces, the forces of the three countries were supported by air and invested in several localities, including In-Amassor, Haram and Serekewillé. This operation, considered "satisfactory", made it possible to dismantle terrorist bases, destroy vehicles and motorcycles, and seize various equipment.
