The vocal version was scheduled for release as a People single (PE 628) 1973, it was cancelled due to contractual issues with the vocal quatre The Variations who laid down a vocal track at a later session and the song became "Papa Was A Rolling Stone", which eventually appeared on Amour Records.

The intended title of this James Brown produced J.B's track was Psychedelic Thang. Not sure how Norman Whitfield or Motown Records would have felt about that.
